What to Expect

  • We have 3 boats in our fleet.

The Full Nelson: Is a 29' C-Hawk. This vessel is equipped with a large back deck for fishing, wildlife viewing, lots of space to enjoy the fresh air and amazing views, the heated cabin and comfortable seating makes for a great area to hide from the weather and warm up - the ultimate Southeast Alaskan ride. Powered by twin 250hp Honda outboards, the Full Nelson handles cruising speed in rough waters nicely. Our vessel is outfitted with all necessary flotation devices and first aid items.

The Freestyle: Our 24’ Hewes Craft is a comfortable and convenient aluminum boat. This boat can squeeze into small narrow areas where other vessels can’t go. The accessible bow (front of the boat) allows for easy access for pulling up to the beach and a chance to get up close and personal to wildlife. There is also a large back deck where you can step outside and enjoy the ride. These outside areas paired with a large cabin make for a perfect wildlife touring boat.

The Judi Kay: Welcome aboard the F/V Judi Kay. Enjoy the comforts of a 27’ Skagit Orca XLC designed for the waters of Southeast Alaska. Powered by a Suzuki 350 HP, she cruises safely and comfortably. The heated, updated interior cabin, fully rigged fishing gear and partially covered deck are a few qualities to enhance your experience on the water. Feel at ease knowing the Judi Kay has all required United States Coast Guard items. A brief safety and general knowledge run down of the vessel will take place before departure ensuring your safety and comfort.

  • The Tongass National Forest is a temperate rain forest, so be prepared for the strong possibly of rain and mild temperatures. I would recommend wearing layers because it can get chilly even in the summer months. All of our vessels have enclosed cabins to stay dry and comfortable. However if we are fishing, having a beach adventrue, or if you plan to spend as much time as possible out on the deck, you’ll want to pack along a rain coat (and maybe even rain pants and boots!) to stay dry and comfortable.

  • All vessels have complimentary water, sodas, granola bars, and trail mix. Feel free to bring any personal food or beverage on board.

  • Sitka Sound is renowned for its incredible wildlife. During our expeditions, we are likely to encounter an array of marine life such as seals, Stellar sea lions, sea otters, whales, and porpoises. Throughout the year, Humpbacks, Killer Whales, and occasionally Minke and Grey whales make their appearance in Sitka, Alaska. There's also a vast variety of avian species in the area, including bald eagles, puffins, and murres. Some extra exciting encounters include our coastal brown bears who enjoy feasting on salmon along the coast.

  • Aboard our vessels we will fish for all 5 species of Pacific Salmon: Coho, Sockeye, Chum, Pinks, and King Salmon. Additionally, we may have opportunities for catching Rockfish, Black Bass, and Lingcod.

  • All fishing clients 16 or older will need to purchase a sport fishing license and king a salmon stamp.

Nonresident 1 Day Sport Fishing License & King Salmon Stamp: $30
